Road Block Shiraz
Wine
Chapel Hill Road Block Shiraz draws from the only Chapel Hill block sited over a base of Pirramimma sandstone: the Road Block. It produces small berries tightly packed with flavour and tannin.
The grapes are hand harvested, gently crushed and open fermented with hand plunging to extract subtle tannins. The ferment rests on skins for around 10 days.
After basket pressing, the free run and pressings are combined. The wine is then aged for 20 months in tight grained French oak barrels. The portion of new oak is kept low to ensure that the fruit remains the focus.
There are no additions of any fining agents or tannins, and the wine is not filtered prior to bottling.
Deep ruby, Chapel Hill Road Block Shiraz is full bodied and firmly structured with classic McLaren Vale flavours of blue and black fruits. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
